Rome's humidity yesterday ranged from 93%(max) to 40%(min)
DC's max was 70%, 33%(min)
Only 93%? That's obviously wrong.
There where some showers yesterday and also this morning Rome was hit by a thunderstorm.
When it rains, ça va sans dire, relative humidity is 100%...
Anyway it is very silly to provide such anecdotical evidence: on a particular day Rome can be much cooler, wetter, windier, foggier than DC and viceversa.
It means absolutely nothing.
It is climate that matters.
By the way relative humidity in summer in the two cities is more or less the same ( on average, of course).
One only has to take a look at the bloody data!

What has your July been like so far? Up until today, the average maximum high has been 28.2C (Roma Urbe). Have the locals been happy about this weather? You are probably going to get a very hot August

It's been wet, very wet and cloudy. Lots of rainy days and probably more than 100 mm of precipitation.
Also June totalled much more than 100 mm (about 130 mm if I'm not mistaken).
It looks like August might be another wet month. Who knows?
Last summer was basically the same precipitation-wise, but warmer.
I can definitely see a trend in Rome for warmer and wetter summers... We are quite near the Csa/Cfa border, maybe in the future we'll become fully Cfa... Just like Washington DC
That doesn't mean it's more humid, and yesterday was hardly the average summer day in DC.
I wonder what the average dew point is for both cities, and the highest dew point they've seen this summer (so far).
If Wunderground is anything to go by, 75F DP at DCA this summer. Not so impressive, but then again, the July negative temperature anomalies are west of NYC.
Statistically Washington D.C. is much hotter than Rome in June. July and August are warmer in Washington D.C. too with a higher average dew point.
