September has around a 40-45% chance of recording an air frost, so I answered 8. June 2009 saw a freeze, but that is one incident in 30 years. Mays have a freeze 9/10 months.
October through April have record lows below freezing in Vancouver, but November and March are usually the months of first and last frost and December, January, and February are the only months where it's a regular/frequent occurrence.

I'm not sure that it's really a commonly held belief, if anything the stereotype is that Saskatoon is a frozen wasteland all year long, I think a lot of people would actually be surprised at how warm it can get in summer. Other than a few heat haters who hate anything above 25 I don't really know too many people who think of Saskatoon as being particularly hot in the summer.

We have mild summers with occasional hot days, mild to cool nights, and rarely, frosts.
I think mild is a bit too soft considering the wild temperature variations and extreme weather at times. Coastal BC is mild, I'd consider the southern prairies as warm with occasional periods of real heat and real chill.

August frosts once every 10-15 years
I'm actually surprised by this, I thought for sure it was more often than that.
if you go 70km to the east, to borås, there has been freezes all 12 months.
