Tripoli has a continental climate with some characteristics of mediterranean climate. Winters are damp, wet and relatively cold and summers are dry and hot with cool nights. It has on average 115 days with occurence of rain per year with 810 mm of precipitation. It has on average 9 days of snowfall (only snow) per year and 6 snowlying days. The absolute maximum temperature ever recorded was 42 C and the absolute minimum was -17 C

Average temperatures are almost identical to Rimini, but at a 37°N latitude instead of 44°N. Tripoli is wetter and more prone to extremes though. Winter record low temperatures are a bit extreme (-16°C in March?).
However, this is a mediterranean climate, not "continental", which would require the coldest month below 0°C.

Yes I made a mistake it is mediterranean influenced by the elevation. In March 1987 we had a very cold and snowy weather here.
