I know there are quite a few people on here who don't like hot summers and Lugano can get some pretty hot days.
1 vs 25 now. I think you have misunderstood the cold lovers (who are these mysterious posters? Patricius Maximus?). A hot summer vs a summerless polar climate is a no-brainer for most 4-season lovers, like myself. I think most people who don't like heat, like ilmc90 and Hiromant, want at least something reminding of a summer. To add, most cold lovers love snowy winters, and Prince Edward Islands are devoid of them too.
Since I joined the forums people have on and on told that this forum is dominated by cold lovers, but I haven't noticed it. I think 98% of the posters here prefer 20C above -20C. Or are you a cold lover if you don't want at least 20C all year round, or like snowy winters?

I think some of the more extreme cold lovers have left or at least don't post frequently. And Prince Edward Island is terrible for many cold lovers. It's not cold enough to snow (not sure? I'd curious to see snowfall stats). It's permanently just above freezing and gloomy, a rather unpopular combination. Lugano is a rather inoffensive (though rather wet) four season climate. Warm enough to feel like it has a hot summer but not painfully so. I suspect outside of winter, I'd find the climate familiar more so than most in Europe and appreciate the much shorter winters.

I think high, moist winds and lows above freezing will melt the possible snow in a couple of days. Of course not 1 vs 1 compatible, but our November last year (6.4C/1.4C) was exactly like a Prince Edward winter month, and had very little snow. Synop report summary
Lugano again is not offensive in any way, like you said, and even heat is quite moderate. Actually, from April to November it's pretty much like my dream climate albeit a tad cooler, though Lugano is twice as wet.

I stand corrected. I just seem to recall many posters complain on the climate battles that summers are too hot for various locations but then again I don't know the threshold for too hot for different posters.
Hmm, Hamilton, Ontario has 65% sunshine and 300h in July at 43'N, yet Lugano's 65% July sunshine only yields 255h at 46'N. What's up with that?
Maybe it has to do some with being in the rain zone of that area of the Alps, causing frequent cloud activities north of the mediterranean ridge?
