At what temperature do meteorologists define as the end of the growing season, is it when the low bottoms out at 32 Degrees Fahrenheit or is it 28 Degrees Fahrenheit?

Isn't it when the mean temperature is above 5 or. 6c, the temperature above which grass wil grow?

Really, a mean temperature of less than 40 degrees Fahrenheit? who would've ever thought that until you I always thought that terms killing frost or hard freeze had superficial meaning, I guess they must notI

The US definition is the time between the first and last 32F air temperatures. I find it a bit odd, as here we usually get a freeze or two in May, though the growing season has definitely already started. Also, we had a freeze on October 1, but the growing season hasn't ended.

Finland uses the 5C/41F daily mean temp when the temp is permanently above that, usually from mid April to late October. Several freezes in a row though ends or postpones the growing season, though the temp may have been above the treshold before or after.
