I'd choose Socorro in a heartbeat. The humidity east of I 95 away from coast is just disgusting in the Carolina's. I'd love those crisp and dry nights, in spite of similar highs.
Yeah, their F-22s were replaced by F-16s last year. Since NM has unpopulated desert you might be able to hear sonic booms (this video is from Red Flag in Nevada)
Goldsboro NC. its only 1hr and 20 min from here I believe. hard to believe climates I would give an a are only 1-2 hrs. away from me. my climate I give a b.
The difference I would think is that being in the west, the one in New Mexico will be more likely to provide those winter temps to you. The one in NC not so much. In NC you will be above it, or below it, and the average is just the difference between the back and forth swings all winter. In fact, don't count on getting the average temps lol. Count on the luck of the draw depending on if you prefer cold or warm.
I'd rather live in NC but would prefer the climate of Socorro.
