Too high values don't work properly, as I don't know how to add sliders for height in java yet or make the program autoscreenshot.

Is anyone here familiar with R Studio?

I'm a newbie and tried something, would like to know if this works on other computers. Here is a R script that calculates 1981-2010 averages from the rather bulky txt file you get from the German Weather Service:

(download R and R Studio for free)

1. download a zip-file here ftp://ftp-cdc.dwd.de/pub/CDC/observa...kl/historical/ and save the "produkt...txt" file somewhere.
Take Nuremberg for example: monatswerte_03668_19550401_20131231_hist.zip

2. Open dwddata2climatechart.R with R Studio and enter the directory of your file between the apostrophes in the first row. It might look like this:
"C:/.../produkt_monat_Monatswerte_19550401_20131231_03668. txt" (there should be no space before txt)

(You can also change the period of time in the fifth row)

3. Press CTRL+A and CRTL+ENTER

4. You should see a table in the lower right. Click zoom to view the chart or export to save it.

Unfortunately, many stations have missing data. I decided that NA is displayed even if only one month is missing, so I can easily check which elements are complete and which are not.
