Cold has arrived. 35F currently. As usual, Wunderground has removed snow predictions lol. NWS has flurries for Thursday and Accuweather says an inch on Saturday. Hard to believe Im in the same state as Marquette though lol, might as well be North San Diego lol. Im starting to think snow is a myth created by Hollywood, lol. Ill believe it when I see it.

Check out Great Falls, Montana departures. That's the mean departure on the left. Was well above normal on the 6th at 66°F/19C Max then yesterday didn't pass 7°F/-14C. This mornings low of -8F/-22C

NUTS

From NWS Boston for northern CT and MA.

The good news: Polar Jet and Polar Fronts.
The bad news: With Polar air comes really dry air.
The good news: A more potent system with the 2nd polar wave(sub tropical jet?)

ENSEMBLES AND DETERMINISTIC GUIDANCE CONTINUE THE THEME OF A SUPPRESSED POLAR JET DELIVERING A COLDER THAN NORMAL REGIME ACROSS SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND BEGINNING THIS THU AND CONTINUING INTO MUCH OF NEXT WEEK. TWO POLAR FRONTS CROSS THE REGION DURING THIS TIME WITH A WEAK FRONTAL WAVE POSSIBLY YIELDING A PERIOD OF LIGHT SNOW OR FLURRIES THU NGT INTO EARLY FRI. THEN A MORE SIGNIFICANT PRECIP EVENT IS LIKELY LATE SUN INTO MON WHEN A MORE POTENT FRONTAL WAVE DEVELOPS ALONG THE SECOND POLAR FRONT.

CLOSER INSPECTION OF THE GFS BUFKIT REVEALS LOW LEVELS MAY REMAIN TOO DRY FOR ANY SNOW TO REACH THE GROUND EXCEPT ALONG THE SOUTH COAST INCLUDING CAPE COD AND THE ISLANDS WHERE LOW LEVEL MOISTURE INCREASES.

925 AND 950 MB TEMPS ARE SHOWN TO BE BELOW 0C WITH SOUNDINGS PROFILES WELL BELOW FREEZING ABOVE THESE LAYERS. BOUNDARY LAYER MAY BE WARM ENOUGH ON THE COASTAL PLAIN FOR RAIN SHOWERS INITIALLY...BUT EVEN HERE ANY LINGERING PRECIP WOULD BE CHANGING TO SNOW SHOWERS. THE BIGGER QUESTION IS HOW MANY LOCATIONS ACTUALLY SEE A BRIEF OF PRECIPITATION. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT A FEW NEIGHBORHOODS END UP WITH THEIR FIRST COATING OF SNOW BY FRI MORNING...BUT THIS DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A BIG EVENT.

There will be winners, there will be losers.

180 hr snowfall forecast from the GFS is now showing a healthy dumping on the East Coast. Let's see if the model continues to trend this way

Cold reinforces and even gets worse over next 10 days (East Coast warms up in the last frame at 240 hrs). Check out the anomalies over Texas

9amEST temps. I wonder if growing season officially ended in Central & Northern Texas.

These are temps, not wind chills.
