Marseille. Freezing winters just harm poor mosquitoes.

Hey mar89, there is no accounting for tastes, for me the climate of NYC is much better than that of Marseille especially during the summer !

Marseille. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest so I'm used to dry summers. I also like that Marseille has nice seasonal variation in terms of a surprisingly cool winter. In terms of living, I think I would prefer NYC by a long shot, but we're just talking about climate here.

Marseille by far, a very nice climate indeed. Also a lovely city in a beautiful region of France.

Can occur. NYC is always cold in the winter, apart from a handful of days.

Also the Sirocco can blow during summer bringing very hot weather

But Marseille would feel warmer than NYC during winter almost all the time on average.

Never been to Marseilles, but every thing I've heard has been negative. Is the crime really that bad there?

Fantastic climate though, as is NYC really. I've started to lean more towards a colder winter recently, and NYC does provide that, as well as a fantastic summer. Marseille shades it for me though.
If it was Washington DC v Marseilles, I'd choose DC.

Yes, I never said that, NYC is much more cold than Marseille during the winter but Marseille can be very chilly during the Mistral days.
