C. Good precipitation pattern and chance of cold and snow in winter. Only drawback is the summer temps, they are really low for an inland location at that latitude, especially a dry-summer one.

It's not as lovely as Central Chile because the winters are on the chilly side and too dull to give it an A. If it was that cold but sunny I might consider a higher rating, because the summers are just ideal for a warm season.


The winter temperature extremes rather resemble the "chinook belt" of North America. It can get really cold at times according to the figures - much colder than any inhabited part of Tierra del Fuego of the Falklands get - but shorts weather is apparently not unknown in winter, though I lack daily data to verify this.

Not really. Ushuaia is usually the mild one, but the other towns can get much colder. Tolhuin has recorded a lowest temperature of -23.5ºC (with a short period of records), whereas Río Grande, in the most extreme winters, can get as harsh as this:
