Check out Santa Rosa https://w2.weather.gov/climate/xmacis.php?wfo=mtr

46.19 inches since July 1 last yr! 4 feet of rain.

The lowest was only 14.53 inches for the same period July 1, 2013 - May 17, 2014.
Most was 2016-17. It's been wet past couple yrs it seems.

Well, sort of. In order to have a Mediterranean climate you need to be near water, but the important factor is that the water have a cold current. Of course, many places such as the East Coast are adjacent to "miles and miles of ocean" but do not have dry summers.

Don't be insulted by the name of this website; if you aren't looking for a lot of technicality it has nice simple explanations of the causes of different climates.

Feel so bad for the west coast, OTOH, heat and drought on the west coast means epic snow storms and arctic outbreaks for the us East of the Rockies, this cold outbreak and early season snow has me dreading the winter of 2019/2020 even more than ever before.

There is no drought anywhere in CA, OR, or WA right now, except for a small patch in the far SE corner of CA along the border with AZ.

Fires happen in CA every year. It is not unique to drought years.
