Looks like a chilly late April period

5C here today, being the high so far. A band of rain is moving in, and we might see some sleet during the night. Annoying low pressure.

Here another high pressure spell is getting under way, so calm weather, but the high will be centred rather to the north, and models (mostly the GFS) have it retrogressing north west, to bring cooler weather to our shores, along with a huge low pressure sitting over Scandinavia.

I am so bored of this weather, and this month in general. The outlook looks very uninteresting, not even as warm as it was expected to be a week ago. Summer can't come soon enough.

As I look south, I see clear skies, not far away. Here, cloudy and cool. We definitely drew the short straw this time around.

Good news!

While the clouds and rain are keeping max temps down, the lows are failing to drop below 66 - not the cool refreshing spring mornings I'd like to be seeing.

Around the 20th of April is when I really want to see below-normal airmasses - nothing's worse than an early arrival of summer.

Ugh more to delay the growing season. I can't even see any buds on the trees yet.

You need to hop on a plane and come down here. Lots of green around here - it's like a rain forest. Very lush. I just hope the rain keeps coming - nothing's better than a cloudy, rainy spring.

A cloudy, rainy summer is much better.

But I think we need a lot of spring rain in order to have high summer dewpoints, so it's ok.

Sounds depressing. Don't mind some rain, but why would you want the best season of the year marred by gloom?
