Which will feel more harsh to the human body?

In winter, where one day is 22C (71F) and the next day or two at 3C (37F) - I believe America's south would experience something like this.

Or....

In summer, one day 35C (95F) and the next 17C (62F) - think Melbourne.

I say worse in summer. I want my summer to be fairly consistently warm. This is my most hated aspect of the Melbourne summer.
In winter I think I'd find those big changes fairly interesting.

Tough one, but I think winters would be worse.

Cool changes in summer are such a huge relief here (and in most of southern Australia), I don't see what everyone's problem with them is. 18, 19 or whatever is much, much more comfortable than 38+.

Well, imagine you were a homeless person and told that you have a palatial mansion and a 7-figure bank account available to you, but only on Mondays and Thursdays.

Yeah, I see your point. I personally welcome them here in Sydney, and they aren't as extreme as those in Melbourne (perhaps I will change my mind there?).

Extreme fluctuations in winter, IMO, are still worse - Getting 23C days followed by 3C. That will be physically shocking.

I suppose it would actually. Though I've never experienced it so currently it seems interesting and unfamiliar to me... Might possibly change my mind if I experienced it.

The changes you described for winter would be worse, definitely a shock to the system.

The cool changes in summer are only good if we've had an extended heatwave, like a week of 35-40°C. If it's one day of 40°C sandwiched in between 18°C-25°C days, it can be annoying. Personally, I'd like a consistent 28°C summer, with maybe a couple of 35°C days and a couple of 24°C days in between.

I agree with this completely. I think extended periods of temperatures around 20C have no place in summer.

Normally, it is like that where I live and there is also a nice ocean breeze (Mid north coast of NSW, Australia).

However, right now it is just wet and looks like it will be that way for a few more days Still, I suppose we need it.

I don't mind a few cool days in summer (especially after a cool change). Cool, not cold. By cool, I mean one doesn't need much more than a light cardigan, cold meaning one needs something heavier. I always have a light cardigan in my bag.

One thing that can be hard is when there is a cold wind on a warm day where if one puts on a cardy, one is too warm, if one leaves it off one is too cold.

Jeez, how forgetful of me to ignore that all too common perspective...
