Rank these Indian climates in order of personal preferences with a grade for each one. (Please tell me that none of your are "redneck" enough to think "Indian climate" means Sioux reservation vs. Navajo reservation vs. Cree reservation or I'll be disappointed with your level of intelligence).
All of these climates have pronounced summer wet seasons and frost free winters.
Srinagar: B-
Cherrapunji: C
Lucknow: C
Jaipur: D+
New Delhi: D-
Ahmedabad: F
Mumbai: F
Bangalore: F
Thiruvananthapuram: F-
I've visited Ahmedabad and Mumbai during the rainy season in 2006. It's awful. The dew point is always in the low 80s F, with constant overcast drizzle and occasional downpour. Can't remember any thunder.
They are all pretty much extreme and alike. Should've done a more diverse country. Anyway...
Cherrapunji is an E, and the others are all F's.
They are more similar than the Australian one but definitely distinguishable from one another if you look at the stats. I will do a Mexican cities one next. Anyone else want to pick a country to do a similar thread on?
Here's my rating for the Indian cities:
Bangalore: B
Mumbai: B-
New Delhi: C+
Cherrapunji: F
Mumbai: F, too hot year round.
New Delhi: F+, way too hot in summer but at least winters are tolerable.
Bangalore: E-, too hot most of year, but still not that bad compared to rest of Southern India.
Cherrapunji: C-, comfortable temperatures but too much rain.
Srinagar: B-, very good for India, but still warmer in winter and hotter in summer than I like.
Ahmedabad: F+, winter lows seem to be tolerable.
Jaipur: E, too hot most of year, but at least winter lows are cool.
Thiruvananthapuram (can anyone pronounce this name on the first try?) - F-, perpetual heat and humidity, no thanks, even record low is too warm.
Dras: B-, winters are colder and summers cooler than I like. Still better than most of India.
