I was wondering what you think the climate of North America would be in the following scenario:

-Western cordillera eliminated so it's mostly flat all the way to the west coast
-Two very tall mountain ranges running east to west across the continent. The first range and the tallest one which is roughly as tall as the Himalayas runs across the continent at roughly 60N. The second range which is shorter and roughly at the height of the Andes runs across the continent at 50N.
-In between the two ranges is a series of valleys and plateaus similar to the intermountain west today.

Thoughts?

Not much thought going into this but I'd assume in-between these two Mountain ranges a Steppe-Forest climate would dominate probably with spaced Conifer trees interspread with snowfields. A very continental climate with Warm to hot summers to cold but because of the mountain range consistent temperatures.

The 60n mountain range would be the coldest place in the Northern Hemisphere.

Further South into the USA I'm imagining heightened summer precipitation and much warmer winters Across the South-East region but winter precipitation may decline with the lack of cold arctic air-moist gulf air collisions. Precipitation in the South-West region may increase in the summer and winter.
