But the winters are rather cool for Sydney's standards, don't you think?

But I'm still wondering, why are the winters pretty cool (the highs I mean)? Did global warming happen so fast recently or did something happen in that era that made the world cooler than average (like a volcano eruption)? I mean, 14C high average in Sydney is a far cry from the typical 17C average. Seems rather anomalous.
