göteborg was smack in the center of the area with the highest relative deviations in the world. can't say i'm surprised.

2014 may be the warmest year on record, but it was such an uneventful and boring one. I wouldn't mind if summer was very warm like 2006 but only July was decent - and I say decent, not great. August was horrid and June was mediocre.

Nope. 2nd warmest in the centre and I think the 3rd warmest at the airport.

Norway 2014

For the country as a whole, temperature was 2.2C above the normal (1961-90). This was the warmest year in recorded history. Previous record was 1.8C above the normal.


The warmest stations, annual mean (24-hr):
10C Stavanger Airport Sola and Fister-Sigmundstad (+ 2.6C and +2.8C).


Coldest:
-2.5C (+2C) Juvasshøe (1,894 m asl – mountain)
-2C (+2.3) Gaustatoppen (1,804 m – mountain)
Coldest inhabited place: -1.4C at Suolovuopmi in Kautokeino

Precipitaton was close to normal for the country as a whole. The southernmost part and SE got more precipitation than normal (140-170 %) while Mid - Norway (Trondheim region) and Northern Norway recorded less than normal (60-75 %)

The wettest stations were:
3704 mm Haukeland (near Bergen)
3589 mm Maudal (near Stavanger)

Least precipitation recorded was:
263 mm Skjåk (inland S Norway)
301 mm Suoluvuopmi (near Kautokeino in far NE)

The Norwegian high Arctic:
The year 2014 was much warmer than normal (1961-90). Svalbard Airport / Longyearbyen recorded mean -2.1C (+4.5C). Jan Mayen recorded mean 1.9C (+3.3C)

Looking at Norway excluding Svalbard & Jan Mayen:
Warmest record high for the year: 34.5C at Gulsvik (NW of Oslo)
Coldest record high: 17.9C at Juvasshøe (1894 m)
Warmest record low for the year: -1.4C at Slåtterøy lighth S of Bergen
Coldest record low: -41.9C in Karasjok (131 m)

Warmest annual mean (24-hr) north of /inside the Arctc Circle:
7.3C (+1.8C) at Myken lighthouse at Myken island group (66 46 N, 17 inhabitants); 25 km north of the Arctic Circle and 32 km from the mainland.
Abs high was 25C on August 3. and abs low was -5.5C on January 11. Precipitation was 646 mm.
This might be the warmest annual mean ever recorded in Norway – or the world – north of the Arctic Circle.



For my city, Trondheim, incl new official weather stations in the city, annual mean (24-hr) in 2014:
8.1C Ranheim (23 m asl) – warmest annual mean ever recorded in Trondheim
7.8C Lade (13 m)
7.8C at Trondheim Airport Værnes (neighbouring municipality)
7.4C Voll (127 m)
7.4C Skjetlein (44 m)
6.9C Saupstad (135 m)
6.5C Sverresborg (156 m)

Abs high: 31.7C Lade on July 20.

Abs low: -18.9C Saupstad on December 25.


Precipitation in 2014: Considerable variations, the stations in the western part of the city at a little more altitude got a lot more:

1087 mm Saupstad
961 mm Sverresborg
676 mm Voll
605 mm Skjetlein
562 mm Lade
556 mm Værnes
554 mm Ranheim

In San Diego CA, 2014 was the warmest year in recorded history. Records began there in 1875.



For Los Angeles, 2014 was the warmest year since 1997 and the 5th warmest year overall since records began in 1921.



Las Vegas also had their warmest year on record in 2014:



San Francisco, 2014 was the warmest year since 1997 and 5th warmest overall.
