What are these temperatures? January averages, average max for Jan? Or entire winter?

Had to look up Beijing's averages. Looks like its winter temperatures are similar to mine except with a faster early spring warmup.

Right. It is very rare for Beijing to rain in January. However Western Massachusetts rained just this month.

-9.5C for a record low for winter is ridiculously warm for Beijing.. that's like close to their average low. By contrast Vancouver which averages around 1C for average winter low has a record low only slightly warmer this winter of -8.9C.

Lol they're still cold.

China/East Asia is just hilariously cold in the winter for their latitude, especially Hong Kong and Taipei.
