It appears that Global Warming is happening, and whether humans help to speed this process up or not is irreverent to this question. But why is it that the globe naturally warms up and cools down. It's believed that in 100 or so years, Great Britain will have more of a Mediterranean climate, Iceland will be more like Britain, and Spain would be more like a desert - though personally I think it will take a lot longer than 100 years - perhaps 500, 1000 years even including the idea that global warming is helped by human activities. However, as many of you know, something like 10,000 years ago the globe was in the middle of an Ice Age, with Spain looking more like Scandinavia, Great Britain looking more like Greenland, and Iceland would have just been a volcanic sheet of polarness!
Here are the things I want to know:
  • Is the Earth closer to the sun in some periods, but further away on others?
  • Is it something to do with how active the sun is? How many sun spots the sun has, for example...
  • Is it something to do with natural events on the Earth, such as volcanoes irrupting or Space rocks hitting the earth?
  • Is it a mixture of all the above and other things?
  • Any other ideas? - Like Aliens cause it? or, animals cause it by farting? Haha...
Thoughts and opinions?
