Thanks. Are these public statements released every day, or only during snow events? And where do I find general daily COOP data, outside the WRCC site that I already know?
Poor folks in Eastern MA have no idea what we're talking about as they dig out from 1.5-2 feet of snow which is still falling. Consider yourselves lucky if you didn't want 1-3 feet. Some are actually getting that or close.
About 17 inches as of 8 AM where I am southwest of Boston. It's been snowing pretty steadily since then and just really started to pick up.
This isn't the end of the world, but it's definitely not a dud.
Drifting has been pretty severe, too. Wind is howling where I am, pretty far removed from the coast. I'd imagine it's pretty bad down by the water.

I'm no expert, but they'll generally only release lists like this during snow events (although not just massive ones like this). Individual stations will release precipitation totals on a more regular basis but they're often just 0.
I'm still waiting for this 'historic' blizzard to make an appearance. So far, it's a dud. It's snowing lightly but that's it. We got maybe 5 inches of snow so far.
Same here, and no blizzard yet. Not that we haven't had many over the years.
Being prepared is one thing but some are acting as if heavy snow with blizzard conditions is something new.

To add to JayRandom's help, Yeah, these are reports from trained spotters, observers and public (you can report too). Each storm with a lot of rain, wind, or snow they issue one out. You can change the 3 letter Office code in the link to see other areas.
For instance OKX for NWS NY. ALY for NWS Albany. PHI for NJ and Philly areas.

NICE. Enjoy. Yeah, even many areas of CT got over a foot.
They haven't plowed my road yet but main roads are fine. Maybe they forget me. Good. LOL
8 inch total here and sky brightened up.
Ahh yes, the piles. I remember them. lol This is 1/4 of how it was last year
A look at the NorEaster spinning off the coast and the view from my roof in SWCT where the sun is peaking through
Definitely a bust here. I think we got maybe 4 inches of snow between yesterday and today. Most government offices, businesses, and schools closed for the day. Unnecessary except perhaps in some eastern counties. I don't blame the state for reacting the way they did. They were following the forecasts and erred on the side of caution. Probably best not to make decisions to close down until early in the morning. I could have definitely gone to work today, not that I'm complaining about having the day off.
Check out whats happening on Nantucket Island right now. Heavy Snow and Wind gusts to 55kts!
