Serves them right. They should have looked up the average temperatures before they take a vacation down here in winter. Still, I saw plenty of people swimming in the ocean last weekend when the water was 65F.

Interesting temperature spread on Key Biscayne right now. It is 56.7F at my house, however 1-2 miles away on a biscayne bay pier it is 64F. Similar spread in temperature all around sub-urban South Florida.

Yes I wont swim if the water temp is below 75. Call me "weak blooded" I love snow. However I hate cold water...

Well I would expect a pier to be warmer at night, though I can't imagine such a big difference on a small island. One (or both) of those stations are inaccurate.

So you really think Key Biscayne has cooler lows than the mainland? Hmm....

Currently the pier on the east side of our island is 59F the pier on the west is 64. My hous is 56.7 (starting to doubt that 64 reading...) 57.1 now WSW winds seem to be moderating. Here is a picture of my area. The somewhat coastal station directly west of me on the mainland (reading 56-58 currently) are usually pretty indicative of what I experience.

No once I entered miami the temperature again dropped tonthe low 60s. My point was the amazing difference between one mile inland and over water. Key biscayne DOES often experience colder lows than the airport however my home NEVER has colder lows than suburban and rural areas South And West of the city.

One night this December the low was 49 at my home, 57 on the virginia key pier, 52 at the airport and 38 in the redlands 20 miles southwest of the airport in a rural setting.

Wow, Miami is like another planet. It is 47 here.
Those temp readings are very odd. I would think the eastern side would be warmer than the bay. Or is the area around the 64F reading more developed (urban heat island maybe)?
