Life is too short to spend crammed with millions of people. Don't know how you do it... I live in a city less than 1/10 the size of London or Chicago, and I often dread leaving my house.
That's why I moved to the far south suburbs of Chicago.
Same day, not the expressway I was on still I think 300 minutes was bad.... But how about 505 minutes (over 8 hours)
I had company the past couple of days, this is a sampling of pics I took of the various things we saw around town:
^^ Where MLK was born.
Where Gone With the Wind was written. Rent for Margaret Mitchell's apartment was $40 a month...lol.
The Governor's Mansion. This house is the same age as me.
Gotta wonder if the Governor really goes swimming in this pool...lol.
Classic southern-style porch w/ rocking chairs. Mint Julips, anyone?
Although this was shot on the 12th of May, it might as well be July.
Dunno what this is - sure looks tropical. (site of the Atlanta History Museum & Swan House, which follows below.)
This was built in the late 20's by a wealthy industrialist (cotton, I think) The man died just 3 years after moving in at the age of 49 - the window lived there with other relatives until 1965, and the house was bought by the Atlanta Historical Society a year later.
This last shot is from the bedroom of one of the servant's quarters - the highest spot in the whole house.
That's it for Atlanta pics - the next ones you'll see from me will be from Paris - can't wait!

I visited those places in fall. Old 4th ward is my favorite hood.
