These are the two major cities I would most like to live in weather-wise. Both have glorious tropical summers with consistent mid-70s lows, and an abundance of thunderstorms.

It comes down to how much winter one is comfortable with. It definitely gets cold in Louisiana but at the same time Tampa might become a little boring, so which do you think is nicer overall?

Tampa. I don't think Tampa if boring for having warmer winters. For once, the summer weather is still exciting due to the monsoons, but that goes for both locations. And secondly, Tampa still gets those cold snaps (too cold for my tastes, but still) to provide some 'excitement'. Anyways, I prefer Tampa because it is warmer and near the beach, so that there are breezes and somewhere to swim if it gets too hot. But the weather doesn't reach the same extremes as NOLA because of proximity to the Gulf.

Tampa:

Healthy Foxtail Palms at Tampa Bay Yacht Club display Tampa being closer to the tropics allows these trees to be healthier.

Bismarck Palms in Tampa-look quite healthy.

New Orleans:

Bismarckia in Audubon Zoo at New Orleans

Clump of Banana Plants in New Orleans

Both obviously have tropical flora...but Tampa's are in better condition because of the warmer climate.

Both climates are too hot and will depress me. I cant stand to wax my body 10 months a year just to stay comfortable.

Within US, Roanoke, VA and Portland, OR have the best weather.

New Orleans for better cold snaps and the possibility of occasional snow.

The sun is very bright in Tampa in the summer! Stunningly hot sun! But there is usually a sea breeze that occurs due to the state being a peninsula. Summer is like winter up north; you stay inside in the ac if you can. Summer thunderstorms are unbelievably dangerous. Wow the weird lightning I've seen!

N.O. would have less bright sun, more "trapped" humidity, but I've never lived there, so don't really know.

Mid 70s sounds pleasant, but there is almost 100% humidity on summer nights in Florida! VERY OPPRESSIVE.
