Tomorrow will be the last day of the year that has a record high above 20C in the UK (20.0C, Lairg, 23 November 1906) The earliest day with a record high above 20C is 2 March (20.2C, Exeter Airport, 2 March 1977)
The winter of 1931-32 was extremely mild in Raleigh.
Every month except March had an average high above 60 and an average low below 40, and only 5 days through the end of February had lows below freezing! Normally, December, January, and February all have average highs in the 50s and lows in the lower 30s. The average number of lows below freezing through the end of February is 50.
That November tied for warmest on record, December and January were second warmest on record, and February was fifth warmest on record.
However, March was cooler than average, with 10 freezes and 3.3" of snow.
Here are the November-February temperature anomalies for the country.
