Special radar catches the ptype. Look into dual poll radars. Fun stuff. Here is where the line is. I got all sleet/ice pellets here. Some areas in the sleet section still have snow mixing in. You can still see some darker reds there mixed in

My temp rose to 30F now. Gonna switch to rain any minute. I didn't bother shoveling the 2" of snow and sleet.

White Plains, NYC and Long Island reporting rain now..

Bridgeport Danbury still Ice.

Groton & Willimantic and Rhode Island still snow

Good point, sometimes they post the briefings through SM and those maps don't get updated. I noticed that more for Binghamton and Pittsburgh. The rest always update the maps.

New Upton snow map is out for 2nd snow. A shift north 20-30 miles and most of CT gets over half foot. Another 4-6" event here. I Havent had a 8"+ snowstorm

Posted this over in the spring thread. Didn't see this thread. Yeah, what a messy evening.

Spent 30 minutes scraping ice off my car when I got off work this evening! It was crazy. It was hard to even open the door at first. It was frozen solid due to freezing rain. Had to use so much de-icer. Then I get home from work and there's practically no evidence of freezing rain here. None of the cars here are totally iced over. I work over in PA. Amazing how different the weather has been.
But my evening has significantly improved upon hearing we may get 5-8 inches of snow Thursday.

1" of snow, sleet & slush = a ton of backaches BUT....

Leave it & it freezes or shovel & get an ice glaze. No win dilemma. (don't worry, I cleaned the street part too, Im not one of those. LOL) Even though a City plow will come later and clean the streets, I did my part.

Even with sleet and drizzle overnight, snowpack remains over 18" here this morning. Higher tomm with the 4-6" of new snow coming. WOW! So rare.

Current Radar, Metars & 850mb temps.

Freezing line Slicing through U.S pushing East with a 1034 HP behind it and cold temps.

Notice the snow breaking out where this level has dropped below 0C. So until the column cools, expect rain or sleet or ice. Snow will come as that line pushes through.

I believe this would be the biggest snowstorm of the season for these areas? Not 100% sure.
