95 D, dp 71, heat index 102. Highest yet for the year so far (heat index.)

But some storms are starting to build. Keeping my fingers crossed we get nailed by a good one.

Yeah, can't wait for all the heat and dry weather and the inevitable forest fires that come with it.

What a great experience this heat wave is going to be.

Just nuts...

here's Columbia, SC temps this month. At 93° right now. Is this survivable!? LOL JK guys but I never want to experience this in June, ever.

16 days 90+ is more than anywhere in Florida.

Greensboro 11 days
Raleigh 13 days

Still without power in my area. I slept ( okay) in the basement last night. Also without cell service. My dad had gone to Delaware, and power is not affected, so that's where I am now. Will charge my phone and spend some time in establishments with air conditioning.

That was a very violent storm. Trees downed. Everything is a mess. Honestly looks worse than it did after Hurricane Sandy.

What worries me is that the "heat peak" of summer is still over a month away. Does this mean that the worst is yet to come? Or is this just a front-loaded summer, and we'll be able to bask in normal to below-normal conditions all the way to October once this heat wave breaks?

I need to decide soon about pulling the trigger for an extended sojourn in CNY.

The thing is, the last 2 summers, I don't remember *anything* this bad - especially last year.
