Looks like we're stuck in a hot-ish pattern without a real heat wave next week. Lots of highs near 90, kinda humid

Nice feels like a deep tropical dry season this July. Constantly hot, nil rainfall and abundant sunshine.

Keep in mind those temperatures are recorded at the coolish airport station - downtown values are a couple degrees higher. The lows in particular are stunning - this is 43°N! The next two weeks are forecast to be abundantly sunny. This is too early to say, but we might have a shot at breaking the 400 hours barrier. July 2007 recorded 377 hours with one day missing, so probably around 380-390. It was our sunniest month on record.

probably the hottest part in NC is the sand hills area. I believe reading that the sandy soil plays a role in it. soil where I live is sand like at the top but underneath its hard sand colored clay.

I don't fear this setup as much as a SE Ridge. Even though the Jet can flatten and move north, the Northeast heat waves cant happen with a Central U.S Ridge.

We are staying seasonably warm here for few days with some weak fronts coming this week but should hit 80s each day. It's July

Forecast looks hot, maybe I got used to our coolish June as normal summer weather. June is never the same as July anyway. Yesterday and this morning have been very nice but the heat is going to build this weekend, later next week looks about normal or just below.

A Bermuda high would as be a setup you wouldn't like.

Normal max is 82 at BDR.. 84 here. BDR peaks at 83 and starts dropping in 2 weeks. While I call 70 "hot", I don't call mid 80s hot compared to July normals. Seasonable.

Bermuda High delivers mugginess, I hate.
SouthEast Ridge gives us those hot South/SW flow which I hate and get nervous because that SE ridge can move north few hundred miles easily.

Central Ridge doesn't get me nervous because you can have cold fronts, moisture and troughs swing into the Northeast and give us those needed breaks.

Why can't a central ridge migrate eastward?

Why can't we have a summer without any high pressure at all? LOL. Starting to get a bit depressed at not being able to see rain in so long. (>10 days)
