Next week is gonna be hell over here, at least relative to our usual early September standards.

Dew points in high 60s and low 70s, with daytime highs near 90F and lows near 70F. Approximately 10F above average.

The record high at Islip is 93F (34C) in September, and we do have a shot at breaking it:

Weather Underground Forecast // National Weather Service Forecast

Gonna enjoy the relief as much as possible today.

In here mid March old school daily average high is +2 +3c, not talking about ´warm epoch´ i.e post 2000 Marches).

The only mid March which looked like this was the March of 2013. I don´t know in where you exactly live but at in the station of Kuusiku in northern Estonian inland in 2013 March average was -6.8c below long time average, so let´s don't call it an usual.
So "usual mid March" does not look like this.

Looks like today's the last "cool" day here in central New York. Gonna those delicious 70's at the New York State Fair.

Looks like I'll have to deal with some 80's starting tomorrow, hopefully the dewpoints will behave. Not looking forward to seeing possible 90's upon my return down south - but at least it'll be hot up here too, so that makes me feel a bit better at least...lol.

I'm just glad I was able to hit the cool spell up here - I got what I asked for, so I really have no right to complain.

Really!? We've had days like that in March! This past March we had a week of that!

Ugh

WPC's Extended Forecast Discussion

NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
1222 AM EDT FRI AUG 28 2015

THE SUBTROPICAL RIDGE IS EXPECTED TO APPROACH A BERMUDA-HIGH CONFIGURATION OVER THE SOUTHEAST THIS PERIOD, ALLOWING A POOLING OF TROPICAL MOISTURE FROM THE NORTHEASTERN GULF OF MEXICO TO THE SOUTHERN MID-ATLANTIC. USED THE LATEST NHC FORECAST FOR ERIKA, THOUGH MUCH MODEL UNCERTAINTY EXISTS IN THAT SYSTEM'S TRACK AND INTENSITY.

no sign of snowmelt at all, even considering the higher sun angle. that's more like an average mid-march in lapland or something lol.

Current stats here for August 2015..

Average high 21.4C / 70.5F
Average low 12.7C / 54.8F
Rainfall 85.5mm / 3.3in
Rain days 7

Will end up slightly warmer than average, much wetter than average and slightly duller than average. Might actually end up average if the final few days are sunny like they have been recently.

The fact that rain has only fallen on 7 days - with nearly all of it falling on from thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday last week - means this month actually hasn't felt wet at all, despite the high total. We had similar rainfall amounts in January 2014 but rain fell on like 15 days.
