You should be thanking all the cloudcover this system is bringing. An 83 F high in Miami and it's still August? Not possible unless you have some sort of low pressure system nearby.
I hope this cloudy pattern continues for a few more days. The entire south Atlantic US seems to be getting a break from the heat!
True. That's one positive, but I would have loved to seen more rain and wind. Still a letdown, but you're right that the cooler weather is nice.

Tropical storm conditions are fine, but I wouldn't want to be caught in a hurricane. One of the things I like to say to people who consider relocating to the Savannah area is how protected it is from hurricanes compared to other coastal cities in the south. A few days back when the models were showing a Hurricane David-like track with Erica, I was getting pretty nervous. Thankfully that did not pan out.

I wouldn't mind a Category 1 hurricane, strong enough for a lot of excitement but not that devastating. Cat 2 and up is concerning though.
Anyone else notice the western US ridge rebuilding by days 12-16 on the 12Z GFS today? At least that will make things a bit more interesting for the middle of September if it verifies.
Much cooler in the PNW and BC. Currently 64 F/18 C with light rain in Seattle. Highs around 20 C there the upcoming week. Looks like scattered showers and some heavier rainfall in Idaho and British Columbia.
Wintry precipitation in higher elevations?
Much needed rain in these areas. Oregon, Washington, and Northern Idaho are in an 'extreme drought' according to the US Drought Monitor. I imagine similar conditions extend into British Columbia and Alberta.
Future radar shows heavy rain moving into coastal BC and Washington tonight, but not sure if it will sustain itself further inland. 60-70% chance of rain in Kelowna tomorrow night and Tuesday.
