Which places in the world have the lowest and highest diurnal temperature ranges? Also, how much of a dtr do you prefer in a typical day.

Greatest : Somewhere inland region of California
Least : Isolated small island with no big landmasses around, the Maldives is a good example.

Personal Preference : 15°F diurnal range is always ideal to me.

Nice find! Those summers are indeed freaky and even beat Stanley, ID, Lake Tahoe, CA and Gunnison, CO, other places with weird summers.

I generally agree with the consensus that 15-20 degree ranges are ideal. That place in California is crazy. I can't imagine trying to dress there. The Maldives average a 9 degree dtr. I think Hong Kong has it beat. 7-8 degrees ranges year round.

What the actual f***k!?

Is this for real?

How come I've never heard of this climate before? It's like a fictional climate that came to life!

The lows are fantastically phenomenal! So bizarre...!

Default Highest Diurnal Ranges in the World

Specifically talking about the temperature range between day and night, not the seasonal range.

Places that come to my mind are the following:

*posting average diurnal ranges

Denver, Colorado: 28.2°F/15.8°C
Denver - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scottsbluff, Nebraska: 29.5°F/16.4°C
Scottsbluff, Nebraska - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seneca, Oregon: 33°F/18.4°C
Seneca, Oregon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
*Seneca in August is the most impressive on this list: average high of 80.6°F/27°C and an average low of 34.9°F/1.6°C
*That is an average diurnal range of 45.7°F/25.4°C for the month!

White Sands National Monument, New Mexico: 36.7°F/20.4°C
White Sands National Monument - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Honestly I can't think of any places internationally that rival North America... I'm sure they are out there though.

What places can you think of that have high or unique diurnal ranges?
