Yikes. That's almost as much as South Carolina. What was the setup for that rain? Unusually warm Mediterranean must lead to more moisture. I assume it was from the south not the Atlantic.
Yep that rain came from the south. Friday from the southeast, Saturday's thunderstorm from the southwest. Friday there was a weak low pressure area over the Gulf of Genoa, whereas yesterday there was an ULL over south-central France. The top of those clouds was at a freakishly cold -68°C! The sea has cooled down quite a bit now, it's 20°C right now. Last year at the same period it was 23°C. Though last year Nice had 22 inches of rain in November, might be related.
Took a couple pics this afternoon. The local park looks like the Everglades in parts:
Flat areas near rivers are covered with a layer of dirt from the muddy water. The river that caused this killed 3 people last night.
This underpass is easily flooded. This time was obviously no exception.
It still hasn't surpassed 60F yet at the airport just before noon! 59F at 11:53 AM.
Cloud cover has been persistent.
Doesn't it feel great? I had a 65 F high yesterday thanks to the clouds.
