Next week. These are the breaks we never/barely had from Mid July to now.

THEN THERE IS THE SHARP COLD FRONT. UNCERTAINTY AS TO THE TIMING OF THE FRONT THROUGH S NEW ENGLAND WHILE HIGH PRESSURE AND DRIER AIR

BEYOND MIDWEEK...

A PERIOD OF HIGH PRESSURE AND ACCOMPANIED COOLER TEMPERATURES WITH H85 TEMPERATURES RANGING +4-8C. LOOKING AT BELOW-NORMAL CONDITIONS.

THE PATTERN IS CERTAINLY LOOKING MORE AMPLIFIED
WHILE ENSEMBLE MEANS SIGNAL A TROUGHING PATTERN WELL OUT INTO THE FUTURE.

September seems to be trying very hard to defy forecasts and register as the second below average month in a row

6/8 days have been below average and we are +0.5F for the month currently.

Cool... it looks like our forecast is changing Thursday, October 1st... just in time. Highs and lows both seem to drop in the forecast on that date. Hopefully it stays cool. A cool October would be a good reward for this lousy September.

In the Mid 50s here. Mid 60s NYC. WANNA SWITCH!?

Look at Danbury. In the 40s just 30 min to my north. 13 degree difference between Danbury and Bridgeport

Sure. Like the dews we're getting. Forgot what dewpoints in the 40s feel like, or that there is something lower.

Yup.. 40s down to Philly. Long Island in the 50s. But with dews in the 40s and low temps in the 50s/60s that means one thing... No touchy. lol

Check out NYC vs Chicopee. CEF always fascinating to see. Just not used to lows touching the dews. Sounds strange cause they don't often here. Nice to have the northerly flow back

October 4 and the morning of the 5th in 2008. The snow up on the Whites didn't last more than a few days, still a colder pattern than this year.

That time of year for the flower design. lol

Watching the cold air building is amazing. Here are the current 850mb temps. There are a lot more blues and pinks around then few weeks of ago. Naturally. I see an area of extremely cold temps building but playing the loop it disappears for now.. That entire Vortex needs to push south.

In fact playing the loop it does as Mike mentioned. It actually breaks off and 1 piece heads to Canada.

The troughs (flower pedals) are rotating and as time moves on they will get colder and deeper. I see over Europe the below freezing temps don't really make it as an entire air mass like it does over Alaska/Western Canada, Eastern Canada, and Russia.

I also see why there is record snow in Siberia. Hudson Bay should start freezing up more now.

Check out how far down the -10°C line got Feb 19, 2015.

Spoiler

It would be sweet, alex985, to have a dusting of snow by Christmas! Do hope to get some moisture here in Maine, though, before October, it looks pretty dry (not as parched as Albany, Oregon)!

Thanks, RAlex - Appears as if we could use some moisture here, soon!
