They probably will see a wet winter, but very unlikely to be a drought buster. As long as that warm blob remains in the North Pacific, Cali will be dry, and the east will see cold winters
I hope that warm blob Disppear and they get some relief from this drought...
I believe the warm blob is related to some kind of climate change and not really man made warming. But I think it is here for a long time to come. Both JB and his sidekick joe D'Leo are starting to hedge on it fading after this year. Now they are saying it might be temporary instead of before saying it was a goner after this year.
According to this, the blob was created by a persistent ridge which blocked off the storm track and prevented cooler waters from mixing with waters below; it's a response not a cause of the weather patterns though it may have amplified things. A strong El Niño should kill off the ridge this winter.
