I'm sure they've got a similar current down there.

Chicago, Syracuse NY, Boston, Cleveland, NYC... generally 4 season climates with enough precipitation and sun.

Think I'm gonna stick with Charleston on this. Regardless of who gets slightly more thunderstorms, it has my ideal temperatures.

Hard to say... I have yet to found a perfect climate for myself. I think that very diverse winter weather with highs ranging from 0°C (32°F) to 20°C (68°F), occasional snow, occasional sun. I'd prefer a quit transition to spring and a long summer, about 30°C (86°F) with average humidity. A long fall with beautiful foliage, where you usually don't have to wear coats on Halloween and it still feels pretty fall-y during Thanksgiving, but I'd still like the weather in fall (just like winter) to be pretty diverse.

Does anybody know if there is a place that has a climate like this in the USA?

I'm jealous of Vladivostok and Nakhodka in their summer. Here is the forecast for Nakhodka:

Right now, Merimbula on the NSW south coast (36'S):

Their winters are virtually like ours (despite their southerly latitude). Their summers are tad cooler, but very pleasant. Not to mention, despite being on the south coast facing the southern Tasman Sea, they are fairly dry. They do get around 85 clear days annually - Lower than Sydney's 100 days. But I wouldn't mind that. It's still on the sunny side.

I am now wishing that Sydney was located there instead.

La Laguna, Ponta Delgada, San Diego, Santa Barbara.

In effect the usual suspects

I'd assume perhaps the best of them all is located in the Funchal hills some 200-300 m asl, where summer highs should be temperered a bit given that it still firmly faces the sea.
