Usually there are always bikes for sale around that price tag in shops. My boss owns one, as well as several in the €2000-4000 range. It's a matter of priorities imo. It's still nothing compared to real estate prices.
That's why I scoff at people who say France is a socialist country. No, it's not, it's just like here with the extremes of rich and the poor. And don't get me started on real estate - it's getting nasty even here in "cheap" Atlanta.
No wonder I'm missing Syracuse so much - it's one of the few places left in the country that you can buy a decent home in a decent area for less than $100,000. Why can't it be like that everywhere?
