It was only after I got out into the "real world" when I started complaining about high prices - I was spoiled rotten at uni...lol.
No the gym is not free!! The laundry is ok if you do it once a week but as I've said a moment ago sometimes it requires you to put it in twice as it doesn't dry the clothes properly.

We paid "student fees" which included the gym and a bunch of other stuff. Since everybody paid them, it spread the cost around. It was a good deal all around.
As for the dryer, it only does it for a few minutes at a time - what I'd do with jeans and other things that take forever to dry, I'd just let them finish drying naturally in the room, usually overnight.
They didn't serve beer on campus - that sure would have been a nice treat to have...lol. The bars nearby were quite cheap though - so no biggie there.
Owen is lying, I have been to the university he is at now for 3 years longer than him..
Laundry at the on campus laundrette is about £2 to wash your clothes, then 50p for each 10 minutes of drying.
Gym is £120 for the year for students, which is exceptional value, seeing as the cheapest high street gyms offer usually £20/month, at £10/month for students this is very cheap.
Food on campus isn't cheap i'd say, but nowhere charges £10 for a meal. You can buy freshly cooked burgers for about £2.50 in the shop, the union bar does a meal deal - £4.50 for a panini, crisps and a pint of beer. The union food outlet does plenty of different food all priced between £1.50-£5.50 for a full meal.
So yeah, don't listen to that compulsive liar
I use the RAF gym at work and that only costs £15 a year! I'm also a member at a gym called Pure, and that's £12.99 a month. Both decent enough gyms too.

Wow that is cheap! I used pure gym at home but that was £25/month, I understand it is much cheaper away from London though.. the puregym was good.

Yeah it's cheap, but it's about 4 miles from my house which isn't ideal. There's probably half a dozen big gyms between my house and pure, but I like the 24 hour opening of pure. I can't believe it's double the price in London though! Pure seems to be the cheapest gym in York, and incredibly busy also. Better than spending £50+ on a big name gym though.
Plus the drive is good for my car. It means I can take my car out when there's no traffic and give it a blast. Being stuck in traffic all the time is no good at all, especially on modern diesels.
I pay just $10 a month for my gym, but it's a bare-bones one (Planet Fitness). However, it's within walking distance, and it has everything I need. It probably helps that I'm able to go at off-peak times as well.

Ah I see, yeah mine was 1 mile from my house so I used to walk/run/cycle there and get a bit of extra cardio from that too! Yeah, it does seem a bit unfair but then I guess it is more expensive to run a gym/rent price in the London area..
I do love the 24 hour opening times as well! Although I rarely went after 11pm or before 9am anyway really
My gym is £16/month and is open 24 hrs, every day.
Would that be the one In Vauxhall in st George's wharf?
