Yes, and not only that, I've heard this is the worst region for lyme disease as well.

I think Lyme disease is more common in Hampshire because the New Forest has the highest concentration of ticks. Never heard of anyone contracting it here.

Avril Lavigne had it recently and was bedridden for 6 months. How awful.

Some 3000 Finns get Lyme disease every year, so though it's a minor threat, it's still real. The tick-borne encephalitis is worse, which can have up to 10% mortality, though here it's only 1-2%. The taiga tick, which is a newcomer here has an even larger chance of infecting.

Ticks don't like too hot weather, so that restricts them. They also don't like arid air, so Mediterranean areas are also quite safe.

Wow, that's a lot. We have 65 million people but only about 2000 get Lyme disease every year.

Oh, I've been there. The views are nice, although Charlotte looks pretty far away (need binoculars to see details of the buildings, etc.)

Climbed it in April, on the way back from my parents once. Let us know how it went.

My uni is in a pretty small city 100 miles north east of London and we get some pretty decent people coming to play.. in terms of big names that have been here recently, we've had:

Coldplay, Jess Glynne, Snoop Dogg, Rudimental, Netsky, David Guetta, Florence and the Machine, Fall out Boy, Muse, The Vaccines, Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, Tayor Swift, Olly Murs, Clean Bandit, etc.. plus loads of lesser known bands..

Not many of them to my taste, but Muse, Netsky and Foo Fighters live were amazing..

Didn't you know that was the Key West of the north?

Never been there myself, although I'd like to. You can get there via ferry from Boston, saving the hassle of having to drive the long way around.

I know, haha. I've actually been to Key West. It was a stop on a cruise I was on when I was sixteen.

Definitely increases with human population. City parks always seem to have the most ticks for that reason. Same with deer and raccoons.
