All week the weather forecasters in the NY/NJ area have been harping on the fact that today (Friday) would be a complete washout, with a front stalling right over us. Heavy rain and flash flooding were expected throughout the day, with showers lasting through the weekend. Today I had 1/4" of rain and the sun was out by 8am. It's shaping up to be one of the most beautiful days of the summer and little to no rain is expected the rest of the weekend.

Is it just me or is weather forecasting actually getting worse rather than better? I just don't get how the forecast could be so far off. And I'm not just talking about TV weathermen, this botched forecast was also supplied by my local NWS office.

It's not a complete washout here, but it's been raining off and on all day. We just had a heavy downpour and the sun is just now coming out.
