The West Coast has some rather high values despite in being a spot would associate with torrential rain.
You get major rain shadowing in the west. For example, Henderson Lake on Vancouver Island averages 23 feet of year per year while Sequim, Washington situated on the coast a mere 75 miles away averages a mere 1 and a half feet per year of precipitation.
Friggin ridiculous NOAA is, they couldn't just release this map and talk about 1st snowfall dates. They had to throw in Climate Change and Global Warming. So obvious what they are doing to the public. Sickening.
Keep in mind, this is over a 10 year period, so you have to divide the number by 10 to get the yearly totals. Still, 36 per year in Anchorage, Alaska is pretty impressive.
