Just had to rave about this stretch of winter weather. The snow aspect has been frustrating up here, watching Seattle get clobbered while we only had a total of 1-2 inches until today. But it's been below freezing almost all of the past eight days, so even that small amount of snow stayed in scattered patches, and the ground froze solid. And then today/tonight, a low pressure system that was expected to just bring an inch or two of snow was stronger than modeled, and now the current snow depth here is around five inches, and it's 19 degrees, with cold air advecting back from the north following the passage of the low. This has been such a nice break from the typical maritime winter regime--I've felt like I was transported to somewhere in Iowa for a little while. Probably the best extended period of winter weather for the Pacific Northwest (at least western Washington) since December 2008.
Wow, did anybody else see this? Snow in Maui down to 1900m elevation. It's believed to be the lowest elevation snow ever recorded there. Supposedly related to the same system hitting Seattle? https://twitter.com/GuardianAus/stat...11688486039552

WOW! Enough cold air around to drop snow down to 6000' in Hawaii which is a record there. Flakes were seen even lower than that.
Snow in Vegas. Snow in Hawaii. Snow in Seattle. Never boring.

Definitely not in Vancouver. We've only gotten about 10-20cm out of this.
Victoria just had their 6th snowiest day in history yesterday. Vancouver always gets the short end of the stick it seems.
Great, the snowiest month in 50 years. So, it shouldn't be repeated anytime soon.
Yeah I’m over it. I wouldn’t mind it so much if there was infrastructure to deal with it. But everything basically shuts down here and it’s annoying
