Queensland obviously.

I was surprised at first how warm the record lows were in Paris until I realised they were in Fahrenheit.

The data shows Texas, Queensland has the better climate.
Paris, Texas has the more interesting climate with supercell thunderstorms, tornado risk and snow as part of the climate.

Actually that part of south eastern Queensland and nearby north eastern NSW is probably Australia's premier storm chasing and 'super cell' region. A bit further east and at altitude in the 'Granite Belt' and the New England Ranges, there are light snowfalls most winters.

Queensland for me - I wouldn't be cool with living in a climate that can reach -21C.

Not too far south of you does Joe, The MaKenzie Region and Central Otago...Twizel, Ranfurly etc
My son overnighted in Twizel in a campervan during the June 2015 polar outbreak...dipped to -19c he tells me.

In 1982 Paris was struck by an F4 tornado that left over 1,000 homeless, 170 injured and 10 dead.

The region is mountainous with high inland valleys and plateaus. A beautiful part of NZ. They do have cold Winters however that level of cold is rare.

" A polar outbreak was experienced in late June 2015 which affected the whole country, but particularly Canterbury and Otago. Parts of inland Canterbury experienced the coldest temperatures recorded in New Zealand for more than 20 years, with the lowest temperature recorded being -21.0°C at Tara Hills, near Omarama in the Mackenzie Country – this temperature is the fourth-lowest temperature ever recorded in New Zealand.
Twizel looking like somewhere in Canada. ( june 2015 )
