Think about living Chuuk without any air conditioning, just think about that. This is the same forum where people whine about air conditioning not working well enough in most of Italy during the summer months. You going to walk around naked in your house? That won't help all that much by the way. Imagine Bangkok with no AC... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The forecast for Magadan does look better since that was brought up, I hate thunderstorms.

Most houses in the tropics are designed to keep the heat out with good circulation and often fans. I know I'd be fine in Chuuk

Even in the poorer tropical countries they're designed that way? I kinda doubt it...

That's the thing with the tropics, most countries around there are rather undeveloped, thus worsening the conditions. Heck, even in Australia, the tropical parts like Darwin don't have the strongest economy.

That's true... I'm thinking of more middle class areas in the tropics. I think it sucks to be poor no matter where you live.

I've lived most of my life without air conditioning, having to deal with tons of days hotter than any day a monotonous place like Chuuk can get, and here I am. Even worse, my room was not particularly cool or well prepared to hot weather. Just a cube that got all the afternoon sunlight.

Dealing with very wet but often cloudy/rainy conditions, with highs below 31ºC, sea breeze, low urbanization and arguably well prepared housing shouldn't be a big issue.
