If they are, then so is Washington DC. But imo it is not subtropical. Summers even look weak let alone cold winter.

Subtropical,Because if we take this threshold of 0C Daily mean,so a lot of cities in Southern Hemisphere have an Humid Continental Climate..

Definitely continental. IMO, subtropical climates shouldn't have averages below zero.

Odessa isn't subtropical, not even close imo
In my opinion it's wrong to equate the term "subtropical" with the Cfa climate type.
I would say the warmer Cfa type climates are subtropical. (Like Charleston)
But anything that is colder than Atlanta in winter makes it hard for me to think of it as subtropical.

It's continental with moderating influences from the Black Sea, but it is definitely not subtropical, even Crimea is bearly subtropical, and that's only south of the Crimean mountains.

I'd say it's an ocean moderated continental climate the same way Sydney is an ocean moderated subtropical climate and Honolulu is an ocean moderated tropical climate
