Jgtheone and AZguy99, We have the same birthday. Still 2:30 hours left though in my timezone, while for AZguy 16:30 hours left.

counting the exact birthday time means 11:40 hours left for me because I was born 09:10 am

Been sick with a cold the past few days. Sucks!

Just realized I have to drive 20 miles to the bank to cash my check because I had to stop my direct deposit and cancel my account due to an unauthorized transaction. I hate living in the middle of nowhere.

No you are not, you are in the wrong time zone. Jgtheone is born on 6 December, the day Finland declared independence.

And happy birthday to us!

Well, mean solar time wise (timezone = exact longitude*4minutes)...

Quote:
I was born 08:55 am, and 09:37 pm now so countdown is 11:18
Its only 04:22 pm in Turku so 07:38 countdown to independence day

Your status says "Last day of 17... Gregorian wise" - I'm guessing besides the Gregorian Calendar you use the Islamic Calendar? I know the government uses the Gregorian Calendar, but which would you say the people tend to give more consideration to?

Yep. My small cellphone has 2 (Gregorian and Hijri/Islamic) calendars

Using the Hijri calendar, my 19th birthday (1437/8/5 Hijri) will be around 12 May 2016. Hijri is pure lunar calendar

Thanks. I would love to have an alternate calendar to use, as well. It is interesting how people can observe multiple ones. For example, the Chinese have their calendar and their New Year is obviously a big deal. But they still celebrate the Gregorian New Year, fireworks and everything.

Had the wife's cousin visiting today, and she was saying she couldn't live up here as it's far too cold and windy.
The only time she's been north of London, and she's basing the weather on how it is today, which incidentally is warmer and less windy than her place!
