Question. Today while driving through out the country side a lot of farmers had something planted in their field and it was growing Im assuming it was cabbage. is their any other possibilities of what it could have been. didn't even realize anything could be grown in winter.
Aren't the highs in this "cold spell" only about 2-3C below normal? and the sun should make it feel almost normal than that. Anyway, you can't complain after your average low in December was almost 10C

From where in Germany are your ancestors from? It's completely possible that you have Scandinavian, Baltic and Slavic blood.
Literally about 50km from the Polish border going back to the 1700s. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but what surprised me was I'm 15% East European, 14% Scandinavian, the rest is scattered from the Iberian Peninsula to Greece (I can only guess I come from Roman stock in that case)and a large chunk of Native American. More than 5% is considered not to be an error or coincidence, which is the cool part.
