I had to chop down the Washingtonia that had sprouted outside my front gate today Someone complained & to be fair it was taking up most of the pavement lol, though the council really should have removed it & it snapped my saw too. But was horrible having to get rid of it, such is my love for palms... RIP Washy

If I lived in Malta I would have gladly done that yardwork for you lol, death to all palms! Plus I don't mind doing landscaping or gardening, so two positives come from this.
Really want to buy Cities: Skylines but my laptop doesn't meet the minimum requirements. I should consider buying a gaming desktop, but they're like £800 and to me that's a lot of money for just a computer, especially since I don't play many games as it is.
My MacBook barely meets the requirements, but it runs horribly, so I've held off on getting it.

That sucks, their fast rate of growth is a gift and a curse. I have two that I grew from seed, I even have their birthdays written down.

I actually asked my other half to do it as I couldn't bare to kill it but he refused lol...
I read on the Palm Society forum recently that Miami has banned the planting of more coconut palms, due to the danger of falling coconuts & the lawsuits that follow

Yeah it sprouted last year from the mature ones at the end of my street, I kept meaning to pull it up but by the time I got round to it the thing has rooted into the paving so firm it wouldn't budge. I thought it would die as literally no soil or water, but it grew & grew & grew lol... I do have a couple of its brothers (or sisters) in pots that I rescued from my border, but despite being in proper soil & well watered they are about 1/10th the size that Washy was

Speaking of plants and palms, there was a massive dawn redwood where I was working yesterday. I went to have a late morning cup of tea underneath it, as it's shed all it's needles and is amazing to look up at the massive bare trunk and limbs. There are hundreds of small nikau palm seedlings under it, which the owners knew nothing about. There are no nearby palms, so it's a bit of a mystery where the seeds come from. I shall investigate further today after I finish work - will be taking my Sherlock Holmes style deerstalker cap, a notebook and pencil, and a Sherlock Holmes style pipe.
