Whichever is sunnier, so probably Beijing.

I imagine sunny is a relative term in Beijing with all that smog

Yeah...

It probably depends on the particular year.

The past 1.5 weeks here have been very nice though.

Without the smog, Beijing easily: a sunny and calm 35 F would feel a lot warmer than an overcast, drizzly, windy 45 F. With the smog factor, Vancouver wins because the air quality/pollution is so bad, that would be hard to enjoy all that sunshine with all that thick haze and when you're constantly coughing.

It's interesting you say that. Last week we had times where it was 35F and sunny and it felt colder to me than today where it was 50F and drizzly. I guess everyone is different.

I think people confuse the day feeling nicer, with the day feeling warmer.

As for me, I'd choose Vancouver. Still warmer, and all that rain, means plenty of snow for the ski resorts.

Was it in calm winds and were you standing in the direct sunshine?

There was a light breeze and I did stand in the sun at times. You could feel it warm you a little bit but not much.

Yes we've had a good start to the ski season this year. I wonder if there are nearby places to Beijing to ski. It's certainly cold enough.
