I'm not well versed in heat indexes, but what kind of dewpoint would produce such an index in 40c ? Like a 35c dewpoint ? Does it even exist ?

She said in the first post a dewpoint of 32C.

I mean, who here (except perhaps a couple of people) has actually experienced anything close to heat indices of 67C or temps of -40C? For the vast majority of posters, those conditions are so far removed from their normal temp range that they wouldn't realistically be able to tell you which feels more uncomfortable to them. The discussion would be more fruitful if you actually consider some pedestrian range of temps that people have actually experienced so that they can actually talk about their experience in this environment.
I'd rather not answer myself, both are well outside the bounds of my experience. Talking about this is just fantasy talk. Even for more pedestrian ranges, say humid (say dewpoint of 70°F) and 95°F and 0°F, I could just say they're both unpleasant, I generally prefer heat so probably the former but if well bundled up the latter might be a bit better. But so what? They're both annoying.

Maybe more interesting:

Coldest I've waited for public transportation: about -10°F (-24°C) around here on winter morning at a bus stop
Hottest I've waited for public transportation: about 97°F (36°C) in Berlin this year; but low humidity. Might have had a higher head index somewhere else. NYC subway platforms may often hit 40°C in the summer with high-ish humidity.

How Hot is it on NYC's Subway Platforms? So Hot... - WNYC

On top of that, the results of this poll are basically predictable (par a few members), as most people's preferences on this forum are already largely known. For example you know that I'll vote for the cold one and I know you'll vote for the hot one. This forum already has hundreds of "extreme heat vs. extreme cold" polls.
Agreed. What is the OP try to learn by adding an extreme heat vs cold poll? It tells us nothing about about climate nor weather patterns. Extreme heat and cold preferences are mostly known anyway even if they could give insightful discussion.

Agree with Shalop and Nei.. at least make it interesting and nei has a great idea.. How about a thread titled "What is the Coldest or Warmest you had to wait outside for a Bus or Train" might actually be better.

Something about which is better than which is getting played out.

I'll still take 40C, that heat index is intense though, it'd be like being trapped in a parked car on a hot summer day.

Not a bad idea. I think that "wait outside for a Bus or Train" sounds too specific though. A nice idea might be "What are the Coldest or Warmest temperatures in which you have done various activities."

For me, I remember some exact values because I like to memorize the occurrence of extreme weather events...

Coldest I've waited for public transportation: about 8°F (-13°C) once at my university in February; windchill was -10°F (-23°C)
Hottest I've waited for public transportation: probably around 95°F (35°C) on the subway

Coldest I've gone for a run: about 0°F (-18°C) in February, with windchill of -19°F (-29°C)
Hottest I've gone for a run: about 88°F (31°C) last summer, with a dew point around 68°F (20°C)

Coldest Bike ride: about 7 miles this February at 12°F (-11C), with wind chill around -4°F (-20°C)
Warmest Bike Ride: about 86°F (30°C) last summer, dew point around 70°F (21°C)

Coldest at which I've driven with open windows: about 5°F (-15°C) one day I drove to Stony Brook in Feb
Warmest at which I've driven without AC: about 96°F (35°C) since my car doesn't have AC

Coldest at which I've walked around in town: exactly -22°F (-30°C) in Lake Placid NY in Jan 2015 (one guy was running in this)
Warmest at which I've walked around in town: exactly 113°F (45°C) in Chandler AZ in July 2010 but humidity was low

Coldest at which I've skied: about 14°F (-10°C) in the Catskills this Jan
Warmest at which I've skied: about 45°F (8°C) during the same trip (ski was crap that day)

Waiting at a bus stop - 40C you can pile on the layers to keep warm but + 40C there is nothing you can do about it.
