Playa Calahonda in Nerja

There's a small blue white cave building down there.

Pruned CIDPs on the Balcon de Europa

Decidious trees with leaves in winter

A Royal Palm at 150m/500 ft asl. near the Cuevas del Nerja (which were closed that day)

Failed photos

The weather station of Nerja located here at 170m asl. is not completely representative of Nerja itself.

What is this?

Data from that weather station: El Tiempo. Hoy y últimos días: Nerja - Resúmenes diarios anteriores - Tabla - Agencia Estatal de Meteorología - AEMET. Gobierno de España

Dypsis Lutescens

Going down to the beach this time

Water temp was 17°C, and this was kind of a nudist beach.

I also prefer sandy beaches, but this isn't bad either

Frigiliana is a white beautiful semi touristic village sitting in the coastal mountains behind Nerja.

Water Drink Thingy

Panorama View

Sunset from the Hotel

Next day

A beach near Adra, didn't look that inviting, it was windy as hell

The scenery gets more arid to the east

In a valley south of the eastern Sierra Nevada

The "Big River" of that Valley in the Wet season

No but really the December which just ended at that point was extremely dry.

Yep, they look like winterized bananas, for sure. They might not get frost burn, but the lack of colour in the leaves shows the slow down in growth. The wee ones are still cranking though

Nice pictures. At what time of day did you take them? Does the sun rise much higher than that?

Pics from the coldest weekend of the year. Brr...

This is what the dead of winter looks like in the subtropics.

Flowering mimosa is really beginning to get noticeable from far away:

Eww bare trees...

Snowy mountains a bit more than 100 km away. Not the sharpest photo I'm afraid.
Spoiler

Brigitte Bardot's favorite town. Lots of expensive cars there...
Spoiler

Notice the snow in the background:

Strange sign at a trailhead. Erm, good to know I guess.

A lot of these photos turned out bad.

It was quite warm here. (500m asl.)
Ca 21°C/70°F

See the Road

Driving up the pass (2000m/6560ft)

Hiking up a small hill

Looking north

The Mountain Pass Donkey

Guadix 915m/3000ft asl

Epic Fail Photo (The Red rocks in the background illuminated by the sun looked beautiful irl.)

Next day
The Coastline near Malaga

Nice City park (reminding me of the one in Santa Cruz de Tenerife)

The Avocado tree was to big to get a decent photo of

Royal Palms

Took this picture in Baltimore City.
Terra subtropicalis? I dunno... it's 28F/-2C outside right now, colder than our coldest average low. The famed American winter cold snap
The pine tree in the background to the left is Eastern White Pine, a non-native tree that people love to plant everywhere for some reason. Those are one of my least favorite pines in the area (ugh!).

Waiting for this blizzard that is gonna give us more snow than we typically get in a whole winter.
