I looked this very interesting battle, its amazing to see that Melo have lower record Low than Shanghai.

Melo:

Melo has a Humid Subtropical Climate, described by the Koppen Climate Classification as Cfa. Summers are warm (with hot days and cool nights) and winters are cool, with frequent Frosts and Fog. The precipitation is evenly distributed throughout the year, with an average of 1,241 mm (48.85 in), and the annual average temperature is 17 °C (63 °F).
This city has the lowest recorded temperature in Uruguay, of -11 °C (12.2 °F), on June 14, 1967.

Shanghai:

Shanghai has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cfa) and experiences four distinct seasons. Winters are chilly and damp, and cold northwesterly winds from Siberia can cause nighttime temperatures to drop below freezing, although most years there are only one or two days of snowfall. Summers are hot and humid, with an average of 8.7 days exceeding 35 °C (95 °F) annually; occasional downpours or freak thunderstorms can be expected.

GUYS,I MISTOOK THE POLL,SO A IS MELO AND F IS SHANGHAI,IM SORRY.

What's up with the poll? Are we supposed to rate or choose one of the two? Anyway, Melo. Easiest decision ever. Mild winters, sunny, and moderate summers vs. chilly winters, cloudy, and oppressive summers? A no-brainer.

Melo.

Shanghai has colder winters which is nice, however the near total lack of snowfall and hellish summers ruin it as a climate for me.

Shanghai: C+
Melo: B-

Melo is a near perfect climate to me, though the record winter lows are colder than I'd like. The record low for January look off to me, considering the latitude and the relatively small high latitude land mass.

I choose Melo too,Warm to Hot Summers but with Cool Nights(One caracteristic of South America Subtropical Regions),instead North America and Asia Subtropical, with High Summer Lows.

I think it Record low is for being in Eastern Part of South America, who give it more Continentality with Cold Southwest Winds from Patagonia, for comparassion,Valpariso,Chile at same Latitude have an record low of -3C,its the same who occur in North America or Asia, but in less Intensity.

Melo for warmer winters. Actually wiki is wrong about Shanghai's record low. It's actually -12.1C, so a bit warmer than Melo's.

Extreme Temperatures Around the World- world highest lowest recorded temperatures
